UTM parameters
Place UTM rule recipes at the top of your list on the dashboard. Since Context reads recipes top to bottom, other rules (e.g., location-based) could trigger first. UTM rules only run if the correct campaign parameter is in the URL.
UTM parameters help track the effectiveness of your online marketing campaigns by capturing details about traffic sources.
With the UTM parameters rule type, you can tailor your store experience based on the specific digital ad a visitor engaged with. Context lets you trigger a recipe using any UTM parameter, ensuring each visitor sees the most relevant content.
An example web address with UTM parameters:
https://www.domainname.com?utm_source=email&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=clearance_event
How-to use the UTM parameter rule type
- Navigate to the Recipes tab and select the desired recipe
- Select the Rules tab and create a rule
- Select the UTM parameters rule type
- Apply a value that matches your ad campaign UTM links
- Click Save.
Create sophisticated recipes
Now that you’ve added a Customer Segment condition to your recipe, add other rule types such as Customer segment(s), Domain referrer, Date range, Weather and Geographic location to expand or refine your conditions.
