The Geographic Location rule type allows you to select a location in which your recipe will trigger.
Great ways to use the geographic location rule :
- Announce a shipping update only to your users in Canada.
- Promote beachwear to visitors from Florida.
- Display rain gear to visitors from London.
Selecting a geographic location
The Geographic Location rule segments your visitors by their IP address, allowing you to create custom content for customers in a specific country, a state/province or even a city.
Due to privacy settings and IP addresses setups, location information becomes less accurate at the city level and may exclude users that are in that city. We recommend targeting users on the country and state/province levels to include more of your niche market.
Adding the geographic location rule
Add rules under the āRules tabā.
- If this is your first rule in the recipe, select āCreate your first ruleā. When adding additional rules, select āAdd another ruleā.
- From the rule type menu select āGeographic Locationā.
- Enter a location into the text filed, and select the option that most closely matches your area.
Creating sophisticated recipes.
Now that youāve added a geographic location condition to your recipe, Add other rule types such as Customer segments, Date range,Ā UTM parametersĀ andĀ WeatherĀ to expand or refine your conditions.
Combining rules is considered an āANDā operator. This means that both rules need to be true before your content variations will be displayed (i.e. If the visitor is in TorontoĀ ANDĀ the weather is currently sunny).
